TIPS TO MAXIMIZE LEARNING SPANISH

1. Watch the nightly news in Spanish with your children. Minimally you can watch the weather report on the Spanish channels: Univisión; Telemundo; etc.

2. When you watch a movie or show on TV, press SAP on your remote control and watch the show in Spanish.

3. Rent movies in Spanish. You can either watch movies in English with Spanish subtitles, or watch the movies in Spanish with English subtitles.

4. Take a fieldtrip to Calle Olvera, the birthplace of Los Angeles located near downtown LA. There are many historical places to see, stores and restaurants with signs in Spanish. And nearly everyone on Calle Olvera speaks Spanish! You can arrange a tour guide to give you a tour of the area. For more information: www.calleolvera.com

5. Make flashcards with the vocabulary words. Parents, you can work with your child on memorizing vocabulary in Spanish by using these flashcards.
