“TORITO”

Hola! Yo me llamo “Torito”. (No “El Torito”, como el restaurante…!).

Yo soy un toro y vivo en España.

Yo vivo con mi Mamá, mi Papá y mi hermana, “Torita”.

Nosotros somos una familia muy feliz.

Mi Papá trabaja todos los días.

El camina a su trabajo, porque los toros no manejan!

Todos los domingos, mi Papá lucha contra “Fernando, el Torero”.

Yo veo el humo que sale de la naríz de mi Papá.

Well, they all go with a story you’re going to read in Spanish.

It’s up to you to fill in the English as you read the story aloud in class…

Translate each Spanish line into English….and make sure to write the
INFINITIVE (or…the name of the verb) above in brackets….AND WRITE THE ENGLISH TRANSLATION….like this…

[ CAMINAR = to walk ] (*You can put a box around the “AR” too)

El perro camina a la casa.

The dog walks to the house.

That way, you will really learn how the verbs work!!!!

Then, at the end of the story, I’ve made up some fun sentences for you to translate into Spanish….!

And then….you can make up 3 sentences of your own in English …and have your Study Buddy translate them into Spanish!

HOMEWORK:

This week, see if you can conjugate the following verbs at home:

usar (to use/wear), tomar (to take/drink), hablar (to speak), manejar (to drive).

Make a list of all the words you remember for the articles of clothing, and the English translation.

Make a list of all the adjectives you remember that describe clothing.

PARENTS - We will be completing the “Verb Machine” worksheet in class (this will be taken home on Thursday). Please go over this with your children at home over the weekend. Print a copy from the Blog and do it along with them!!!

Thursday April 3^rd – The class will begin to work w/ their Spanish notebooks. Ask your child what should be written in the Spanish notebook. Have them explain it to you in detail.

They will be learning to translate from English to Spanish, and from Spanish to English. They will be refreshing their English grammar skills as well, identifying nouns, verbs, adjectives, and building sentences in Spanish with the vocabulary they have learned.

AT HOME: Have your children tell you the names of the clothing they’re wearing that day, and identify the color. Have them tell you what season we are in (PRIMAVERA). Make sure they answer you in complete sentences,
