Dear Parents,

We at STAR are so pleased you have enrolled your child in our pilot Spanish immersion program this fall, 2007 at Palisades Elementary Charter School!  We have been working hard to put together a series of high-quality Spanish classes that are both educational and fun!

This fall we will cover the following themes:  Meet and Greet (Saludos y expresiones de cortesía); In the Classroom (En el salón de clase); The Family (La familia); Clothes and Colors (La ropa y los colores); The House and Home (La casa y el hogar); Food and Holidays (La comida y los días festivos).  In general, this fall term we will focus on the present tense primarily, so by December the learners will be able to describe themselves, their friends and family members; narrate in the present tense; and of course many other things such as tell time, count, spell in Spanish, compare two people or things, talk about their likes and dislikes, and much more!

As we see how the fall term progresses, we will then determine which communicative activities and grammar points to include in the spring term.

Homework will be provided for the children, per your request.  This homework is optional, and we will post the answers on this blog page.  Please take advantage of the additional activities under “Tips to Maximize Learning”.  These are activities your child can do alone, or you may engage in the activity along with your child.  How well do YOU speak Spanish?  J
